I’D RATHER BE FISHING
EASTERN NORTH CAROLINA

for the love of fishing
Todd - Fayetteville, NC
So a while back, I entered for a chance to win an inshore fishing trip courtesy of Veterans Creed Outdoors NC and Gaston King’s boat. I didn’t really think much of it at the time, but after yesterday’s outing I can tell you, I really was in need of a day like this. Life has gotten more stressful for everyone as of late and I was no exception. I started my day at 0300 and got on the road to Rose Bay boat ramp in Scranton NC. I had a 3+ hour trip, nothing to think about, but me. I arrived at the ramp at 0645 and stepped right on the awaiting boat. I met two guys that by the end of the day, knew they would be life-long friends. Chris who was just awesome and made sure I was well taken care of. Gaston, who piloted the boat and taught me a lot about pop-corks and was an absolute speckled trout nut. These two made an old vet feel pretty damn good and by the time we were done for the day, I felt like I didn’t have a care in the world and it was like a cleansing I can’t explain. It is because of programs like this that vets are able to better deal with life, knowing that there are folks out there that truly care. Thank you again for an awesome experience that I’ll never forget.

I was able to fish with Kingfisher Charters the day after Thanksgiving. It was a perfect weather day. We caught 56 speckled trout. I was impressed with the captain’s knowledge of the trout. We caught and released a lot of trout. He explained they were females, and would lay thousands of eggs that would keep the species alive and healthy for our fishing future. We kept a few smaller males. My wife and I enjoyed a great seafood dinner, and wow, I had a great time! Very knowledgeable captain!

Captain Gaston King is a wonderful charter captain!
I have been on several trips with him. He has always found the fish. Coming from a long-time fisherman this can be very challenging at times. It’s obvious that he takes a lot of pride with what he does. He has a nice boat, great tackle, and is a really nice guy too. We will be eating trout and drum for a while at our home. Thanks Captain G!
Looking forward to our next venture!

I have been fishing with Captain Gaston on several occasions. He has not yet failed to put me on quality fish. Even when the weather turns a bit unfavorable, he has a plan to combat the elements with his knowledge of the region. He maintains a great boat.
He has state of the art equipment, as well as multitudes of baits that really entice the fish to bite, even if they are acting a bit finicky. When you are ready to go catch some fish and have a fun adventure in a beautiful eastern North Carolina setting, just give him a call.

I left Craven County that morning and it was so cold I just knew we were not going to catch any fish. 28 degrees. My guide for the day, Gaston, assured me that we would. Sure enough, that day started out very slow but once the temps got up the bite turned on. We ended up catching over 40 trout on a day I thought we might not get a single bite. Captain G can put you on the fish.

Thanks to Captain Gaston King we had a great day on the water. He had us on fish within 20 minutes and we had a blast catching them. He’s very friendly and informative and even let me try out a lure I brought but of course it didn’t keep up with what he had us using so I changed it. Saw lots of other wildlife while on the water. All and all it was a great day of catching and not just fishing. We finished the day with some great keepers and they tasted great.
